The girls were born on November 16th, 2007, 16 weeks early. Mallory Kate – 1 lb 8 oz, Evan Reese – 1 lb 1 oz, and Kelby Grace – 1 lb 5 oz. Upon their delivery, Mallory and Kelby were transferred to St. David’s South and were doing fairly well considering the circumstances. Our little Evan Reese was a fighter, but she had a lot of problems and she was with us for about 5 hours. We love you Evan and we miss you everyday, but we know we’ll see you again one day. Mallory and Kelby both went through a lot in their 105 day stay in the hospital, from heart surgeries, to brain bleeds, to infections. Many prayers were answered and we thank God everyday for everything He has done for them. Today they are perfectly healthy and growing bigger and stronger everyday. We started this blog to keep everybody updated on their progress. You can scroll down to the bottom of the page for a slideshow from the NICU days.

First Round of Shots - OUCH!!

The girls both got their first round of shots yesterday. We were up there when they got them, I could barely watch, but Jen held their little hands while they got the 3 shots. They did pretty well - they've been through a lot worse. We thought Mallory was going to be the screamer, and she did a little bit, more of a loud squeal for a few seconds after each one and then she sucked on her pacifier. Not too bad. Kelby was second - Man, if her lungs were underdeveloped at first, she's made some definite progress. She can belt it out with the best of 'em. She let out a couple of screams that were verging on ear piercing. So sad... but it was over pretty quickly and they were fine, of course. Their nurse, Tammy, who has had them during the week for the last few months was hoping she wouldn't be the one who had to do it, but she did a good job and I'm sure they'll forgive her eventually - just kidding, Tammy.

They are both doing really well. Mallory is now getting 6 bottles a day, she gets two in a row and then has one with a tube. Kelby is still getting one bottle a day, she's going a little bit slower, but she's getting better at it. Kelby is now 5 lb 4 oz. She's catching up to her sister. We took the picture below on Sunday as we were leaving. We had just tucked them back in and they looked so cute.
