The girls were born on November 16th, 2007, 16 weeks early. Mallory Kate – 1 lb 8 oz, Evan Reese – 1 lb 1 oz, and Kelby Grace – 1 lb 5 oz. Upon their delivery, Mallory and Kelby were transferred to St. David’s South and were doing fairly well considering the circumstances. Our little Evan Reese was a fighter, but she had a lot of problems and she was with us for about 5 hours. We love you Evan and we miss you everyday, but we know we’ll see you again one day. Mallory and Kelby both went through a lot in their 105 day stay in the hospital, from heart surgeries, to brain bleeds, to infections. Many prayers were answered and we thank God everyday for everything He has done for them. Today they are perfectly healthy and growing bigger and stronger everyday. We started this blog to keep everybody updated on their progress. You can scroll down to the bottom of the page for a slideshow from the NICU days.

Silly Girls...

The girls have gotten to where they play with each other a lot. We had Kelby in the walker and Mallory pulls up on the side of it.

Birthday Party

We added a slideshow above from the Birthday party(s) last weekend. We had the party at a really nice park with a great pavilion, but due to the fact that it was 50 degrees and wind was blowing 30 mph - we decided to huddle around the backside of the pavilion where the sun was shining and the wind wasn't blowing. Otherwise it was a great party - thanks to our great friends and family.

Here's a short video of the "cake" festivities.

Advertising Time Out: The Best Vacuum

I have to take a quick moment away from normal updates. I have the best vacuum ever! Here are the features that I love:

Silent: Never wakes a sleeping baby.
Cordless: never have to mess with the coiling up of a cord or hoping the cord reaches.
Portable: I can take it anywhere.
Convenient: It is always right there when I need it.
Warranty: It is guaranteed to last a life time!
Bagless: No more hassle with that!
Carpet Cleaner: Any spill or stain it will work its hardest to clean right up.

Seriously you must get one. I do not know what I would do with out it. They come in all shapes and colors. Minature, Small, Medium, Large.Whatever your household need is. As the girls get older and eat more table food I am sure I will get my money's worth out if it!

And now....

The many faces of Kelby Grace... she's very animated.

It's so funny to see their personalities showing up already. We think she's going to keep us laughing. :)

We are mobile....

The girls are both mobile now. Mallory gets around a little bit faster than Kelby, but they are both all over the place. We can't leave their side for a second. The other day we had the girls playing in the floor in the office. We had gotten the girls birthday present and put it in the guest room closet, right next to the office. We had left the door open to the closet and before we knew it, this is where we found Mallory.

I think she likes it... :)

Big Girl

The girls are getting so big. It looks like we've outgrown the swing.

November 5, 2005

Three years ago today these two people met. They did not start dating until January 8, 2006, got engaged in May and were married August 19, 2006.

If you had told either of us what the future held on November 5, 2005 we would have cracked up laughing!!!

Go Lavender!

November is a very special month for us. First- our little girls will turn a year! Second we are able to celebrate the remarkable gift of having an Angel in Heaven and Third it is Prematurity Awareness Month for the March of Dimes.

Here is a little excert from the March of Dimes website.

November is Prematurity Awareness month and will be recognized through out the nation with rallies, expert panel discussions, and tours of neonatal intensive care units. Prematurity is now the nation's leading killer of newborns. It has now reached epidemic proportions –525,000 babies are born prematurely each year. The health consequences for infant survivors can be devastating: cerebral palsy, mental retardation, and other neurological conditions. Our purpose today is to raise public awareness about prematurity, and to mobilize the political will to act. (Taken from marchofdimes.com)

To make it a little easier to relate to, one in 7 babies in Texas is born prematurely. We were very lucky that our girls did not suffer any complications that would impact their daily life from being born premature. There are so many families that have to endure much graver circumstances that impact their children for life. This is just one more reason we thank God every day for our little micro premies. Please join us in wearing a lavender ribbon in support this month.
