The girls were born on November 16th, 2007, 16 weeks early. Mallory Kate – 1 lb 8 oz, Evan Reese – 1 lb 1 oz, and Kelby Grace – 1 lb 5 oz. Upon their delivery, Mallory and Kelby were transferred to St. David’s South and were doing fairly well considering the circumstances. Our little Evan Reese was a fighter, but she had a lot of problems and she was with us for about 5 hours. We love you Evan and we miss you everyday, but we know we’ll see you again one day. Mallory and Kelby both went through a lot in their 105 day stay in the hospital, from heart surgeries, to brain bleeds, to infections. Many prayers were answered and we thank God everyday for everything He has done for them. Today they are perfectly healthy and growing bigger and stronger everyday. We started this blog to keep everybody updated on their progress. You can scroll down to the bottom of the page for a slideshow from the NICU days.

First day at the park.

We were scoping out a location for the girls' first birthday party and some friends told us about this park in their neighborhood. It was such a nice day, so we decided to check it out. The girls loved it.

We loved the swings....

Our New Favorite Toy

Conner, Jackson and Harrison helped Nana pull out a few of their favorite toys when they were the girls age and brought them to us. The girls love all of the new toys. However out of all of the toys they brought none of them even hold a candle to this "toy" according to Mallory. It does not matter how many times you redirect her back to blocks, the toy cell phone, Mickey Mouse pop ups or the other bright colored noisy toys in seconds she is right back to this.

Big Girl

I can not believe my baby girl is old enough to sleep like this. Where did my baby girl go? They are growing so fast! Next month they will be ONE!

This Week's Lesson: Sharing

Take a look at the picture below paying close attention as to where the girls are and where their toys are.

Now look at the next picture paying close attention to where the girls are and where all the toys are.

One by one Kelby gently (read:yanks) the toy from Mallory plays with it for about 10 secs, lays it down behind her and grabs the next toy that Mallory has in her hand. Eventually all of the toys will be by Kelby and Mallory will be patiently watching. Clearly sharing will be something we will be working on with Kelby.

Roseola!

Hi! I have a rash....

Want to see it.....

Don't worry it doesn't hurt and I am not contagious. I just look like I have red freckles.

Mallory is cutting teeth and started running fever late Friday evening. (It is like kids know the doctor's office is closed I can get sick now.) Anyway her fever dropped with Tylenol so we assumed it was due to teething. Sunday she had this lovely rash that got worse as the day went on. Nana and Gran guessed it was Roseola. She didn't sleep much Saturday or Sunday night and wouldn't eat for me today so I ran her in just to make sure. Dr. Dudley confirmed the diagnosis. We have Roseola and a slight sore throat. As soon as the fever brakes and the rash starts they are no longer contagious. She feels fine for the most part. While we were there we got the first half of our flu shots. Kelby was rather irritated. This whole guilt by association thing is not fair! Her look to the nurse, clearly stated- "Hey I am not sick. Don't stick me stick my sister!"

Dedication

On Sunday we had the girls dedicated at church. Our church did a fantastic job of making it the special moment that it is. We received certificates, frames and pictures of the event. Our family pastor(well we have claimed him ours) Doug James prayed over the girls and read the scriptures that went with their names. He means so much to Jeremy and I as he has been there for us so much in the last year. During the service we sang Everlasting God, which is the song that we sung at Evan's memorial and reminds us of our little angel. (ref: Mom's thoughts - April Post)

Mallory
John 15:11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
Kelby
Mathew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.

Both families came in to town for the dedication. All in all it was a great weekend. We really missed Aunt Jill and her family. Baby Brody was born two weeks ago so he couldn't really travel just yet.

Here are a few pictures from Sunday- more to come soon.

Sweet Berry Farms.

If you live in Austin you probably have heard about Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls. This will be a tradition for our family. We actually went last year and took our nieces Morgan and Brenlee. -Quick side note- one year ago we found out we were having triplets (9/28/07). Seven weeks later we had them. Last year we were talking about how much fun it will be to bring the girls. The year has flown by! Seems like yesterday.-
Anyway we met Gran, Grandad, Jamie, Morgan(7) and Brenlee (3 in November) at Sweet Berry Farms Saturday. The older girls loved it. They road horses, got their faces painted ate pumpkin ice cream and had tons of fun. Mallory and Kelby liked it too0 accept for the picture taking. Kelby is not a fan of hay bails, but who can blame her. They make you sneeze and the itch!
