The girls were born on November 16th, 2007, 16 weeks early. Mallory Kate – 1 lb 8 oz, Evan Reese – 1 lb 1 oz, and Kelby Grace – 1 lb 5 oz. Upon their delivery, Mallory and Kelby were transferred to St. David’s South and were doing fairly well considering the circumstances. Our little Evan Reese was a fighter, but she had a lot of problems and she was with us for about 5 hours. We love you Evan and we miss you everyday, but we know we’ll see you again one day. Mallory and Kelby both went through a lot in their 105 day stay in the hospital, from heart surgeries, to brain bleeds, to infections. Many prayers were answered and we thank God everyday for everything He has done for them. Today they are perfectly healthy and growing bigger and stronger everyday. We started this blog to keep everybody updated on their progress. You can scroll down to the bottom of the page for a slideshow from the NICU days.

Definitely Daddy's Girl!

If you ever wondered what Jeremy would look like as a girl, just look at Mallory.
There is a lot of her Daddy in her in many ways. We can't wait to see what special personality traits are just Mallory Kate.

Just some pictures.

Getting ready for bed.

Snug as a bug in a rug. They love these kiddoppotamus. Kelby smiles when I put her in it.

Playing on our mat from IKEA. We really like the airplane.

My friend Melody (the Mckee's) gave us these dresses. I took the girls up to Jeremy's office on Friday. He turned the big 30 Sunday so we took cookies to celebrate. Mallory was sound asleep when I woke her up to get dressed. You can tell she was not thrilled! Her mood did not change until we came home. Rule #1 NEVER wake a sleeping baby.

6 Month Milestone

One Amazing God, Thousands of Prayers by Family & Friends, the wonderful NICU staff of St. David's and two loving parents.

What does all of this have in common?????

Mallory Kate 11/20/07 Four Days Old 1lb 8oz

Kelby Grace 11/20/07 Four Days Old 1lb 5oz

Mallory 5/20/08 22 inches & 9lb 8oz

Kelby 5/20/08 22inches & 9lbs 5oz

I took these pictures after their bath last night. Mallory loves bath time and Kelby is not so sure why it is important. As you can tell Kelby was not in the mood for a photo op after bath time.

Mother's Day!

I finally got to celebrate Mother's Day as a Mom. What a great day! Jeremy fed the girls for me so I got to sleep a full 8 hours. I woke up and was greeted by the girls and presents - can't think of a better way to wake up. Jeremy and the girls got me a bracelet and necklace from James Avery. The bracelet has an angel charm for Evan and the necklace has a flower with the girls birthstone. After we fed the girls we went for an early lunch and then ran a few errands. I even got a nap in! Haven't done that in I don't know how long!! All of us piled on the guest bed for a snooze. Afterward we took some pictures on the swing. Possibly should have done them before the nap, my eyes are still sleepy! haha!

March for Babies

Saturday was the March of Dimes walk here in Austin. The weather was great if you like it hot and humid. The overcast skies kept it a little cooler but not much. The walk was very scenic. It started at the Palmer Event Center and then went past the Capital. It was a great workout up and down the hills of downtown Austin. We saw a few families that we knew in the NICU and a few of the NICU staff. Afterward we hung around for a little while and ate with the Best family (Abigail & Porter- their blog is one of our favorites). Then loaded the hot sticky girls into the car and we all came home for showers! I had coated the girls in sun screen which never absorbed in due to the humidity. We had a great time and agreed that this will be a tradition for us.

We made these signs for the stroller.

The girls rode in this ambulance when they were transported to the NICU...

Sisterly Love....

Hey Kelby, I don't feel so good.

In our defense..... we already had the camera out taking pictures before this happened... ;)
really... would you not have taken a picture? :)

Yuck, Mallory!!

I'm sorry I pewked on you Kelby. Please don't pewk on me!
No Worries, Mallory. I'm okay. If you would burp you wouldn't pewk.

A first.....

Today we went back to Dr. Sanders for a check up concerning our reflux. Of course we got to do my favorite part the weigh in! Mallory weighs 9lbs 5 oz and Kelby weighs 9lbs 3oz. Their reflux seems to be getting better. I can not thank Diane and Stacey enough for recomending Dr. Sanders to us. She is so good. Anyway today was the first day Mallory had to do something that Kelby didn't. Anyone with multiples knows that most of the time it is 'guilt by association'. However today Mallory had to have blood drawn but Kelby got to escape the needle. Dr. Sanders is checking her Thyroid to make sure everything is okay. Mallory has had a little bit of a problem with constipation and her weight gain has slowed down a bit.

Mallory did very good and didn't get to upset. The bottom lip was out and we had a huge sad face (totally called for)- but she has screamed louder than she did today. I felt bad because she had just gone to sleep and was so relaxed. Kelby was silent the whole time. I know she was thinking - if I don't make a sound they will forget me.

We are changing formula and upping the calorie intake so our girls should be growing like weeds in no time!

Early Start for Monday

4:35am - I heard the cry of hungry girls. So we quickly ( I have it down to 35min) ate a little snack. Normally we drift back to sleep after 2oz. Not the case on Monday. We finished our 3oz (they don't get really hungry at night) and decided it was time to play. Only one small problem. Mama didn't think so. Despite my efforts to pat them asleep I realized this was not going to work. So we compromised. They could stay up IF they hung out in their room.
