The girls were born on November 16th, 2007, 16 weeks early. Mallory Kate – 1 lb 8 oz, Evan Reese – 1 lb 1 oz, and Kelby Grace – 1 lb 5 oz. Upon their delivery, Mallory and Kelby were transferred to St. David’s South and were doing fairly well considering the circumstances. Our little Evan Reese was a fighter, but she had a lot of problems and she was with us for about 5 hours. We love you Evan and we miss you everyday, but we know we’ll see you again one day. Mallory and Kelby both went through a lot in their 105 day stay in the hospital, from heart surgeries, to brain bleeds, to infections. Many prayers were answered and we thank God everyday for everything He has done for them. Today they are perfectly healthy and growing bigger and stronger everyday. We started this blog to keep everybody updated on their progress. You can scroll down to the bottom of the page for a slideshow from the NICU days.

Update

Both of our girls are still doing well. They have gone up and down on their oxygen requirements over the last few days. Mallory had to be put back on CPAP last night. We think she just needed a little break, they should try to take her back off in the next few days. They have told us that is completely normal for them to go back and forth, they'll get there soon. They tried taking Kelby off of CPAP over the weekend, but she wasn't quite ready, they had to put her back on it after about an hour, we didn't get to see her without the CPAP, we're ready to see her without the tape and everything covering her face. They are both doing well though. They are eating well and tolerating feedings. They have taken Mallory off of the continuous feedings and she is doing well, they're now feeding her over thirty minute intervals every three hours. Mallory is now 3 lb 14 oz and Kelby is 3 lb 3 oz. We'll update again soon.

This is what they mean by the NICU rollercoaster. Im sorry you have to experience this ride. But the girls seem to be doing really well and I so remember those 30 minute feedings. ;) Are you nesting or WHAT????
Love,
Shannon

Jennifer and Jeremy: I am really enjoying keeping up with how well Mallory and Kelby are doing. They are growing so much. I love the picture of all four of you. Please know that everyone in Florida is thinking about you every day. Hang in there and keep up the good work.
